Frequently asked questions

Where is Pachapapa in Cusco?

Pachapapa is at Plazoleta San Blas 120, facing the church of San Blas — the oldest parish in Cusco — in the artisan quarter, about a ten-minute walk uphill from the Plaza de Armas.

What are Pachapapa's opening hours?

Every day from 11:30 am to 10:00 pm, lunch through dinner.

Do I need a reservation?

Walk-ins are welcome, but booking is recommended in high season (June–August). You can book online 24/7 through the reservation button on this site, or by WhatsApp at +51 932 929 474.

Does Pachapapa serve cuy?

Yes — oven-roasted cuy (guinea pig) is the house specialty, cooked in the clay oven. It costs around S/70–75 and needs about one hour of pre-order, so ask for it when you book or as soon as you sit down. It is presented whole at the table and can then be portioned.

What food is Pachapapa known for?

Traditional Cusquenian cooking from the clay oven: cuy al horno, lechón (slow-roasted pork), chicharrón, anticuchos, oven-baked trout on a roof tile, lomo saltado 'Don Lucho' and wood-fired pizzas.

Can I try pachamanca at Pachapapa?

Yes, for groups: pachamanca — the Andean earth-oven feast — is prepared for parties of around 20 or more with advance notice. Contact the team to arrange it.

Is there live music?

Yes — live Andean harp music accompanies the dining room, part of the casona's traditional atmosphere.

What are the dining spaces like?

Pachapapa is a colonial casona with three dining rooms — Sala Toritos, Sala Espejos and the open-air patio around the clay ovens — seating up to 120 guests, with rooms available for private celebrations.

Does Pachapapa have WiFi?

Yes, free WiFi is available for guests.

Do the staff speak English?

Is the patio warm at night?

Cusco evenings are cool at 3,400 m. The patio is loveliest at lunchtime; in the evening the indoor salas around the fire are the cozy choice.
